I am an illustrator and painter, working in watercolor, gouache, acrylic and mixed media. My illustrations have appeared in many children’s books as well as on fabrics, products and stationery for both adults and children. I have also authored and illustrated two books, Drawing for Joy and the upcoming I’m Retired, Now What?
Making art brings me a lot of joy and peace, and it is expressed in my work which can be described as colorful, whimsical, happy, and joyful. I maintain a daily spontaneous art and meditation practice using watercolor postcards. Those small pieces often give me inspiration for my illustrations and paintings
I have been a self-employed artist for many years, which I balance by teaching art with Arts for Life and teaching Pilates. I love all of it.
My husband Paul Jones (a photographer and woodworker) and I came to Asheville from CT following Hurricane Sandy and love living in Asheville with our dog Rio and our many family members who moved here too. You can find more of our work at Victoria Pinney Gallery, Riverview Station, Suite 101 in the River Arts District.
