I was born in Havana, Cuba in 1957. My art education began in Puerto Rico at age 10 with Argentinian Professor Antonio Gantes. Artist Jorge Rechani was my teacher and mentor during Middle & High School years (1970-1975). I attended The Art Student’s League in Old San Juan, and Casa Candina Ceramics Studio in Condado, Puerto Rico. I received an Associates in Art degree (1976) from MDCC College at Miami, a Bachelor in Fine Arts Degree (1978) from Southampton College of Long Island University.

From 1979 to 2013, I lived in Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and Florida where I worked with my family and raised my two children: Luly and Manny. Throughout this period, I participated in several Plein Air Competitions at Deering Estate, FL where I achieved First Place and Honorable Mention. I created a series of 12 Religious acrylic paintings for Sr. Richards Chapel at Palmetto Bay Florida.

Through the years, I have created large oil paintings, being portraits, botanicals, and landscapes which are now in homes of collectors throughout the United States, Europe, and The Caribbean.

I moved to Asheville in 2014, where I am now pursuing my Professional Artist life. I paint wood bird houses while enjoying outdoors. I am a faithful person and love exploring the diverse religions. For the past years, I have become fascinated with Buddhism and delight in Yoga practice. I exhibited my oil paintings in 2018 and 2019 at the Asheville Regional Airport. I am a member of Woolworth Art Walk, Downtown Asheville where my watercolors, oils, and prints can be appreciated. In May 2018 and 2019 I participated at the Montford Music & Arts Festival. In 2018 I was a part of the 46th Annual Biltmore Village Arts and Crafts Festival. At the end of the year in 2018 to early 2019, my Buddah inspired art was up for exhibit at “Works of the Heart” in Unity of The Blue Ridge, NC. During 2019 to the present, I am giving Private Art Lessons and I have been enjoying various Ceramic Sessions at Odyssey ClayWorks.

What motivates me: faith, fine arts and crafts, music, theatre, yoga, dancing, the ocean, our mountains, swimming, fishing, sailing, lots of reading, puzzling plus travels to The National Parks.

This is my testimonial: “During moments of inspiration I travel back in time and reminiscence the pleasure of living: good and bad times, The Earth, love, gratitude, deception, faith and courage. Each piece of my work is simply a gift from my soul to the recipient.”
