Painting plein air allows me a more revered experience of Nature. Within its complexities, keeping it simple is key to a successful painting. I create the illusion of form by paying close attention to the relationship between shadows, highlights, mid-tones and edges. My approach combines intellect with passion. Intuitive rather than mechanical. I enjoy conveying light, atmosphere, and mood rather than a defined literal copy. My love of landscape painting extends into other subjects that I feel called and inspired to paint. Being in the wonderful state that makes art inevitable is an honor and joy.
