JD de Wit is an artist who works under the umbrella of printmaking, with primary focuses on relief, etching, and collage. In an attempt to capture natural beauty and patterns of existence, JD explores life, death, and reality in printed form. In their practice, JD values the time and energy devoted to learning or honing a skill, re-examining concepts of care and craft through a critical lens. Understanding that art can be a liberating and empowering force, JD aspires to create spaces where art and art education are accessible to all.
JD has lived in and around Asheville during their adolescence, and returned to the area after obtaining an M.A. of Multi-Disciplinary Printmaking from the University of West England, Bristol. JD currently prints each piece by hand at home.
