Mary has a degree in Craft Design from Florida State University as well as a Master’s degree in Library Science. Art has been a part of her life since she was very young.

Mary works primarily in glass and enamels though she loves drawing and oils. She blends every aspect of the process including designing, sand blasting on glass, as well as hand inlaying enamels and firing copper bowls. She has displayed in numerous galleries for juried competitions.

In 2004 she moved to western North Carolina for a job and later retired. After retirement she was able to work on her craft in earnest. Sandblasting on glass became a passion. While her art encompasses many different ideas, it often includes whimsy, reality based, passion or joy. She has the freedom to create whatever she feels.

Lyssa has lived in WNC for 50+ years and was a real estate broker for 30+. Once retired she explored more of her artistic talent and taught herself to do stained glass art. Lyssa is an artist who works in stained glass creating colorful and unique pieces. She pushed the boundaries of traditional stained glass by incorporating unusual objects (shells, humorous pieces, and baubles), into the mix. Her dynamic creations are the result of her curiosity and the different ways in which she sees the world.

Lyssa and Mary both retired at about the same time. They lived together and built an art studio where they collaborated their two mediums into many interesting and unique pieces and formed Mountain Artisan Studio.
