Weaving is Rita’s passion. Having always been fascinated with fabrics, she began her career as a self-taught weaver. Her first loom was purchased in 1977. She now owns four looms, ranging from a 45” 4-harness loom (her “workhorse”) to a small, portable inkle loom for weaving narrow bands. The majority of Rita’s work is wearable art including wraps such as cocoons, ponchos, sweaters, shawls, and scarves. She has been selling and participating in fine art and craft shows for over 40 years throughout the Southeast and Midwest. Over the past years she has expanded her sales, and her work has been sold in over 75 stores/galleries coast to coast and in Canada.

The trademark of her work is the use of vibrant color and the creation of soft, supple fabrics. Whether a variety of colors and textures are woven together or using monochromatic yarns with dramatic accents, each piece is a stunning item of wearable art. Her fibers of choice are always natural, creating fabrics with suppleness and drape. With these luxurious fabrics, she creates fashion that is classic and timeless.
