Born in Virginia, Laura Loercher began working with clay near Philadelphia with her family of artists & hikers. Her art celebrates Nature & our compassionate, human nature. In the woods and streets of the Asheville area, she picks the live local leaves that she uses to imprint her clay with.
Loercher’s showing history started at Case Western Reserve University, where she received theWilliam Grauer Award for Excellence in Studio Arts. Since settling in NC in 1997, her student work has shown in the Penland Gallery, at the Southern Highlands Craft Guild Fair, the Folk Art Center and the Grovewood Gallery. After the Professional Crafts Programs in Clay and Jewelry at Haywood Community College, Loercher has shown at Odyssey Gallery andWoolworth Walk.
Her personal studies with diverse spiritual communities & fellow artists in the Asheville area also inform her work. Since 2004, Loercher works in the River Arts District of Asheville.
