Gayle Ray
I grew up in the mountains of Virginia where I fell in love with art and creating at an early age. I cannot remember a time I did not create.
After graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University in Art Education I moved to Los Angeles to experience its stimulating energy and cutting edge ideas. Los Angeles proved to be a melting pot of new experiences - meditation, inner growth and expressing through paint all that was hidden within. I traveled to San Francisco and took classes at the Painting Experience where we delved into the psyche letting our worst fears and dearest hopes fill the paintings.
After finding a spiritual teacher my life as I had known it changed drastically. Exploring my inner state became my most important journey. This exploration led to paintings born from visions and personal experiences.
There came a time when the Blue Ridge Mountains called me home. My husband and I moved to Asheville in 2005 and I have been blessed to have time to continue my inner journey and create both paintings and jewelry. The common thread is connecting to the flow and letting that guide me.
