The way to meet a challenge has been described many ways: make lemonade out of lemons, when one door closes another opens, every cloud has a silver lining, focus on the positive, count your blessings. When faced with a physical disability in my late 20s, I found that these clichés became navigational tools. Always a creative person, I discovered the joy of painting while under the instruction of Lorelle Bacon, here at Woolworth Walk. Painting provides me with a sense of purpose and accomplishment, meditation and focus, and simple pleasure. The realism in many of my paintings is created with shadows and detail. I am inspired by nature's splendor and often choose to make a personal connection with a piece by painting images captured on film by a family member. My husband and I enjoy living in the beautiful city of Asheville.
