Manuel is a self proclaimed "alphaholic". "I've had a love affair with writing since the age of five, which has matured into a full-blown passion." Introduced to calligraphy at the age of thirteen, it wasn't until 1999 that he came to realize the potential of lettering as an art. Since then he has immersed himself into every facet of the lettering arts.

He is a member of Mountain Scribes and says his truest satisfaction comes when he can take someone else's idea or choice of words and communicate it back to them in a visual interpretation full of expression and meaning.

Through play and experimentation with all kinds of papers, fabrics, wood and glass, Manny has established a style of hand lettering that speaks for itself. Residing in Asheville, he keeps busy creating work for his repeat customer base and new clients. With his wife Patrice, who contributes her paper quilting and book arts, they offer collaborative works exclusively at Woolworth Walk.
