I consider myself a native since I moved here when I was 8 years old. I've sewn and created with fabric for 40 years. My talents have evolved in many different ways, but I keep coming back to some sort of fiber. Many of my pieces have been sold and are scattered all over the world. It gives me such satisfaction knowing people enjoy my work enough to to either put it on their bodies or adorn their homes. Designing and creating soft goods and fine art for the home is now more than ever making me the happiest I've been in a long time.
In 1996 I needed steady income and started SewLink, which is a network of homesewers. This company has provided ladies that wanted or needed to work at home with a steady income year around.
About 2 years ago when most of the contract work went out of the country, we had to find a different area of work. That's when I started Southern Decor which does custom home furnishings and accessories: window treatments, bed and bath, monogramming ect. |
