Joe T. Kasben

Potter

Joe's love of pottery began over 30 years ago when his wife, Kathleen, suggested "we" get involved with a clay hand building class at a location near their southern California home. Being a newlywed, he dutifully agreed with her..... "How could I have known this introduction to clay would lead me to the wheel and a "lifelong" hobby making vessels of clay, says Joe". (By the way, he adds, it has only been recently that my wife has been involved with "our hobby!!")

Another of his hobbies is cooking and baking , especially breads.... it was the need for large bowls that "guided" him to the area of functional pottery. Places like the Odyssey in Asheville have afforded him some fine instructions in wheel throwing basics.

Now in their small studio at home, Joe, Kathleen and daughter Katie enjoy making beautiful clay vessels that bring joy to their eventual owners.
