Kiln-formed Glass

I was drawn to using Glass as a medium by my early exposure to the Stained Glass windows in the church I attended as a youth. The way light changes and affects the colors was enchanting. I explored the craft of making stained glass windows for many years with great satisfaction.

A few years ago I became exposed to another dramatic use for Glass that I had previously been unaware of, Kiln Forming. The act of actually fusing the disparate pieces of glass into a whole is almost magical, after all , its mostly sand and heat. That I can create the same effects as I did in windows, without the lead or copper foil and the restrictions that come with them, was very freeing. Now a whole new world of glass has opened for me and I can explore all three dimensions, instead of the two I was previously trapped in.

I have had very little formal training, and so, am constantly exploring new avenues. Some more successfully than others. I expect that this will be a long and interesting journey, I would be glad to have you join me.
